Drawing Interiors at Danny House and Seawhite Studio

On day one in the house itself, you will be encouraged to make expressive and experimental studies on a small scale as you directly experience the complexity of the interior - a wonderful mix of everyday life, domestic space, and period features in the architecture and decor. Drawing with all your senses, using pencils and coloured pastels, your drawings may be filled with sound, gesture, colour, pattern, details, space and light. We can spend the whole day there, with one to one guidance, and group discussions.

Taking these back to the studio, you will have 2 more days to experiment, scaling up your marks and observations onto A1 and larger sheets and rolls of paper, letting the drawing grow and expand (like walking through the rooms of the house). You will be encouraged to work on a large scale. Guided medi-tations and memory exercises will help reconnect you with the original experi-ence, as well as your studies. Think big, extend, add more paper, reach up to the roof beams with charcoal on sticks. Let this drawing become a meditation.
